Andrew Fraser is one of the world’s leading experts on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and economic development. For six years, July 1994 –until September 2000, Andrew served as Chief Executive of Invest UK, – the sole gGovernment body marketing the whole of the UK to international investors, – during which time the stock of UK inward investment more than doubled.

For his government service, he was awarded a C.M.G (Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George) by Her Majesty the Queen in 2001.

Prior to joining Invest UK, Andrew enjoyed an extensive career in international advertising as Executive Vice President and Director of Business Development for Saatchi and Saatchi Worldwide, and latterly as CEO for Europe for Dentsu Company. Andrew also served on the Board of Think London and the Council of Chatham House (Royal Institute of International Affairs).

Since October 2000, Andrew has been the Senior Adviser to Mitsubishi Corporation (Europe and Middle East) focusing on public affairs, political risks and investment opportunities. He has also served on the Advisory Board of FTI Consulting (www.fti.com) where he has focused on government relations and economic development issues.

During that period he has also advised a number of independent governments on FDI promotion, including Australia, Sweden, Government of Victoria and Wales (Welsh Development Agency). He is recognised as an economic development expert by UNDP and has worked alongside UNCTAD teams in a number of markets, including Sri Lanka and Mozambique.

His pro bono commitments include the Trust Board of Shakespeare’s Globe and the Council of the Japan Society UK, where he chairs the Business Group.

Andrew was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1950. He was educated in the UK, graduating from the University of Sussex School of English and American Studies, and on scholarship programmes at Harvard School and UCLA in North America.
